How to do Swastikasana (Auspicious pose) ?

Swastikasana (Auspicious pose)

Swastikasana comes from the Sanskrit verses, which is made up from combination of Su+Asti+ka in this ‘Su’ means good, meaning of ‘Asti’ is ‘existence’ and “ka” stands for to make. Swastikasana is a simple meditation Pose. Many people also call it Auspicious pose. If you feel that you need to do a meditative pose, which is not as difficult as the Siddhasana or Padmasana, in that case, this is apt for you. In Indian traditions, Swastika is a good symbol. When you perform the asana, you will be generating positive vibes.

How To Do It?

⦁ You have to sit on the floor, with your spine erect.
⦁ Spread both the legs in front of you, at least a foot apart.
⦁ Now, bend left leg in such a manner, that the sole of your left foot rests on the inner side of the right thigh.
⦁ Bend right leg and place the foot in between the thigh and the calf of the left leg.
⦁ Keep both the wrists on the respective knees with your spine erect. Breathe normally.
⦁ Sit in this pose for about 10 minutes or as long as comfortable, and then relax.

Contraindications

⦁ Women in their end stage of pregnancy, must avoid this asana.
⦁ Sciatica patients may refrain from doing this asana.
⦁ If you have any injuries in the hips, knees, or the ankles, you should not do this pose.
